What we do

The Climbers Club of Tasmania (CCT) is a not-for-profit organisation run by climbers, for climbers, in Tasmania. The CCT's primary objectives are:

  • Access and Advocacy: facilitating access to climbing areas and representing climbers' views to public and private landowners, government and other organisations.

  • Communication: fostering better communication between Tasmanian climbers, including maintaining guidebooks.

  • Policy: making decisions on issues, publishing codes of conduct, and other standards.

  • Maintenance and Environmental Work: Anchor maintenance and replacement, with track and cliff work undertaken by sister organisation Crag Care.

The CCT meets regularly and is run by an elected executive team and committee.

The Team

President - Chris Lang

Our fearless leader likes long walks on the beach and crimping hard on 26.  Langy is known for wearing climbing shoes so tight that he once broke a toe - the true sign of a committed captain.

Chris the President

Secretary - Christoph Speer

A self-confessed addict.  Chris is usually found hanging off a rope on lonely cliffs in search for more crack to feed his unappeasable addiction.  Please help this man.

Christoph the Secretary

Communications Officer - Alice Chen

Alice holds rare skills in telepathy and astral projection. Her telekinetic abilities have floated her up many a route and provide the CCT with superhuman communicative abilities.

Vice President - Steve Postle

Steve onsighted Trojan at Araps using his extra-human yoga flexibilty. It is rumoured he is so strong that he once punched an unprotectable seam into a hand crack in disgust..

Alex enjoys the finer things in life; alpine trad, red-wine, and collecting bicycles. Alex currently has 46675 bicycles in his shed - 2 are rideable.

Cultural Liaison Officer - Hamish Jackson

A tightly held CCT resource.  Often compared to a snow leopard, Hamish sightings are indeed rare.  If you see him, please capture him safely - we would like to study him, and clone him if possible.

General Committee

The unwavering committee.  Endless paperwork, meetings and decisions are no problem for these rope guns.
